Explain how fever is caused, and describe the positive and negative impacts of fever in fighting infection.
Pyrexia or fever is one of the natural responses of the body to infection. It occurs when the body temperature of an organism increases due to activation of various enzymes from immune cells or antibodies.
Answer and Explanation:
Fever is the of the physiological reactions of the human body to combat infections caused by bacteria, viruses and other pathogens that infect the human body. During a fever, the human temperature increases above the normal body temperature. This increase in temperature causes various biochemical reactions in the body which lead to the activation of immune cells (antibodies) that is necessary in destroying the infectious pathogens. However, severe and prolonged fever may also lead to some health complications due to the uncontrollable or increase in the body temperature.
