The Great Kanto Earthquake:
Around noon on September 1st, 1923, the Great Kanto Earthquake shook Honshu and inflicted severe damage on Tokyo and nearby regions. Many thousands were killed by the quake which collapsed buildings and caused many fires to break out.
Answer and Explanation:
Although the quake has devastating effects, it is unknown exactly how long it lasted. According to the official records at that time, it could have lasted around four minutes. It is clear, however, that hundreds of aftershocks were felt in the days which followed.
