Meriwether Lewis was 35 years old at the time of his death. He was born on August 18, 1774 and died on October 11, 1809. William Clark died at the age of 68 years. Clark was born on August 1, 1770 and died on September 1, 1838. While Clark died of natural causes, Lewis died of gunshot wounds. To this day, researchers are unsure whether he was murdered or committed suicide.
