Conventions are agreements among people to handle things in a particular way. For example, we have conventions in writing. In English, we agree to write from left to right and from top to bottom on a page. We also agree to capitalize certain words and to use punctuation marks in certain situations. All of these agreements enable us to communicate with each other.
