Lise Meitner:

Lise Meitner went against social norms and regulations to become a scientist. Born in 1878 in Vienna, Austria, she was only permitted to attend school up to the age of 14 years. Such was the case with all girls in Austria. Despite these restrictions, Meitner refused to abandon her dream of becoming a scientist. She studied independently and hired tutors when needed. Eventually, the University of Austria agreed to enroll her in 1901.
