What happened after the Battle of Shiloh?

The Civil War:

The Anaconda Plan was the overall strategy used by the Union to defeat the Confederacy in the Civil War. The plan called for the Union to take Tennessee and control the Mississippi, dividing the South in half. The plan also called for a blockade of the South's ports and the capture of Richmond in the east. At Pittsburg Crossing, or the Battle of Shiloh, the Union won a bloody tactical victory against a surprise attack.
