The adrenal glands are part of the endocrine system. They are located above the kidneys. Each adrenal gland has an adrenal cortex and a inner medulla. Some of the hormones produced in the adrenal gland include cortisol and sexual hormones. For example, cortisol helps control sugar levels, regulates metabolism, and controls the balance between salt and water (helping control blood pressure).
