What is Hooke's law and why is it important?
Hooke's law was named after the British physicist namely Robert Hooke in the 17th century. It is a first order linear approximation and is an important law in the history.

Hooke's law tells us about the elastic properties of the materials only in range when displacement and force are proportional. Manometer and spring scale works on principle of Hook's law. According to this law, force that is applied is equal to the product of constant k and the change in length.
