Question:

What was the purpose of the Invasion of Panama?

Invasion of Panama:

The Invasion of Panama took place between December 20, 1989 and January 31, 1990. It took place on the orders of President George Bush. The operation was successful.

Answer and Explanation:

The purpose of the Invasion of Panama was to remove its dictator, Manuel Noriega from power. President George Bush used the killing of a U.S. marine as a pretext for invasion. He claimed he wanted to protect U.S. citizens living in Panama, and bring Noriega to justice for a number of crimes that he had committed. Bush also wanted to bring democracy back to Panama.

Noriega was removed from power, and brought back to the United States. He spent the rest of his life in prison.
