What would be a counter argument for the following statement: We have done all that we possibly can to preserve Martin Luther King's legacy.?
Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Legacy:
Martin Luther King Jr. was a preacher and civil rights activist who is generally recognized as the leader of the American Civil Right's Movement from the mid-fifties until his untimely death in 1968.
Answer and Explanation:
There are many ways that American culture has sought to honor King's legacy, from a designated National Holiday to countless references in the ongoing fight for civil justice in America. Almost every sizable town and city has a street named for the prominent leader. It might seem on the surface that we have done everything possible to honor his work. However, a strong counter argument to this statement is that justice is still far from achieved for the African American community as a whole. The existence of groups like Black Lives Matter and the unrelieved instances of prejudice in the law enforcement and legal systems tells us that, in some ways, King's legacy has not been honored.
