When classifying any species, there are eight levels of scientific classification into which it has to be sorted. The largest and most general of these is domain.

Humans belong to the domain Eukarya. The three domains are Eukarya, Archaea, and Bacteria. Eukarya contains all organisms on earth that have eukaryotic cells or cells with membranes and organelles. This domain includes all mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and other complex forms of life. It does not include bacteria or any prokaryotic organisms.
