Muscles of the Eye

There are six skeletal muscles that surround the eye and control the many diverse movements of the eyes. These muscles are small and not particularly strong, but they are exceptionally fast and precise.

Answer and Explanation:

The six muscles of the eye include the medial rectus, lateral rectus, superior rectus, inferior rectus, superior oblique and the inferior obliques. These six muscles allow the eye to turn or rotate the eye vertically, horizontally and laterally from left to right. They allow us to accomplish many tasks including tracking moving objects and very importantly, they help maintain a stable image on the retina.
