ASVAB Mathematics Knowledge Exam Information
Before you can join a branch of the military in the U.S., you'll need to take a battery of tests known as the ASVAB or Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. The ASVAB is a screening tool that measures your abilities in the areas of math, science and technical, and spatial and verbal reasoning. The ASVAB Mathematics Knowledge exam measures your understanding of general mathematics and arithmetic reasoning.

ASVAB Math Registration and Preparation
Instead of registering for this exam, you'll contact a recruiter in the branch of military you want to join. The recruiter will do an initial screening to determine your eligibility for the ASVAB, then sign you up for the exam. Paper-based test-takers will need to complete each section at a specified time during the 3-4-hour test window, proceeding into the next section only when instructed. The computer-based exam is self-paced and can be completed in about 2-3 hours.

ASVAB Math Scoring and Score Reports
ASVAB scores are used by your selected military branch to determine whether you are eligible to join. These scores are also used to establish the type of military job that best suits your abilities. Your eligibility to join the military is based on your performance on four of the ASVAB subtests, including the two math tests. All scores are reported in percentile form and assigned to different category ranges.
