This course covers all of the topics you'll need to study in order to take and pass the Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators Psychology/Sociology exam. About the Exam
The CEOE Psychology/Sociology exam is a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 80 selected-response questions and one constructed-response assignment. The test lasts 4 hours, and you'll need to allot an additional 15 minutes for administrative matters.
CEOE Psychology/Sociology Exam Preparation & Registration
By utilizing this study guide, you'll become familiar with the subjects found on the CEOE Psychology/Sociology exam. These short video lessons will refresh your memory of topics you studied in college and may introduce you to some concepts that are new to you. In the lessons, you'll learn about psychology/sociology concepts such as personality, psychological assessment, key sociology theorists and sociological research methods. You'll also find out about values, beliefs and attitudes, social institutions and prejudice and discrimination. Population trends and social movements are also covered. After you complete each lesson, test your knowledge with the self-assessment quizzes that accompany each lesson. These quizzes will also give you an idea of what the questions will look like on the actual test.
The test is administered year-round by appointment, Monday through Saturday. You can check appointment availability online. The test is administered throughout Oklahoma and the United States. Register for the exam online and select which test administration you would like. You can specify the institutions to which you would like your scores to be sent. When you appear for your test session, you will need to bring a current government-issued photo ID card.
CEOE Psychology/Sociology Exam Scoring
Your test scores will be available to you online within a month of taking the test. Your test results will also be sent at that time to the institutions you specified upon registering. You will need to earn at least 240 points to pass the CEOE Psychology/Sociology exam.
Foundations of Psychology
For this section of the test, demonstrate your knowledge of the history of psychology and its important conceptual milestones. Showcase your familiarity with all aspects of psychological research. You will be tested on the biological underpinnings of behavior, sensation, perception, memory and learning. This section covers states of consciousness, stress, and thinking and language.
Individual Development, Conflict and Adjustment, and Social Psychology
You must display competencies in understanding human development and the factors that influence or determine it. Answer questions on human motivation and emotion, and show your ability to recognize how individual differences are measured and assessed. You'll need to understand the elements of personality and how it is measured. The assessment of psychological disorders and the ways in which they are diagnosed and treated will also be covered in this section, as will social psychological constructs and principles.
In this section of the exam you will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the field of sociology including its history, its major constructs and theories, research methodology. Address questions on culture and society, including social institutions and social inequality. Other concepts tested in this section will be deviance and criminal behavior, social control, social change and demographics.
