Scoring the FTCE Middle Grades English
The raw score that you earn in the multiple-choice section of the test will be combined with the percentage of questions you answered correctly and converted to a scale score. A score of at least 200 is required to pass this test, and 70% of the score is for the multiple-choice portion with the remaining 30% of the score dependent on the essay. The essay is scored by two judges who will grade your ability to express your arguments clearly and logically and support your argument using relevant examples. Composition skills will also be evaluated. You'll get your score report about six weeks after you take the test. The score report that you receive will say 'pass' or 'not pass'; however, your results won't show a score unless you don't pass.
