About This Course
This guide will allow you to go over basic math functions and operations, from simple addition and subtraction to concepts in geometry and algebra. This material is generally addressed in the MEGA Elementary Education Mathematics Subtest. The lessons in this course will cover such topics as number theory, fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, integers and graphing. You'll also have the opportunity to review elements of basic algebra and fundamental geometry.
About the Exam
The MEGA Elementary Education Mathematics Subtest is one of the four subtests that comprise the MEGA Elementary Education Multi-Content exam, which is a state licensing exam for those who wish to teach at the grade 1-6 level in the state of Missouri. Each subtest consists of 40 computer-based multiple-choice questions. There are three competency areas in the mathematics subtest: Numbers and Operations, Algebraic Relationships, and Measurement, Geometry, and Data. Numbers and Operations accounts for 40% of the test, with the algebraic portion covering 25% and third area 35%. You must attain a score of 220 on this subtest and all subtests of the Elementary Education Multi-Content exam.
MEGA Elementary Education Mathematics Subtest Exam Preparation & Registration
This course is a useful study tool you can access prior to sitting for the MEGA Elementary Education Mathematics Subtest. This guide contains lessons addressing all of the material you must be familiar with when taking this exam. It provides reviews of ways to round numbers, identify prime and composite numbers, add and subtract single-digit and larger numbers, solve multiplication and division problems and explain the properties of numbers. You will reinforce what you know about such mathematical practices as working with decimals, finding least common denominators, converting fractions to percents, calculating ratios and graphing numbers on a number line. Lessons are also devoted to basic algebraic expressions, solving various types of word problems, units of measurement, geometric shapes and angles, calculating perimeter, area and volume, and plotting points on a graph.
To register for MEGA exams, you must create an account on the MEGA program website. After submitting a completed registration form and payment of necessary fees, you can access the site to schedule the taking of an exam. Select a test date, time and location. Your test date and site will be confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from Pearson VUE.
