The new version of the health education test is only available as a computer-based test, while the earlier version has both a computer-based and a paper-based option. The computer-based versions of the tests are offered 9-10 times throughout the year and each occurrence has an approximate 2-week window in which your test appointment can be scheduled. You can register online for the computer-based tests using a credit card. You'll need to print the admission ticket after your registration is complete. This ticket needs to be presented at the testing site on your exam day. During the registration process, you'll select your test date and choose up to three schools or agencies that you'd like to receive your scores. It's possible to register for computer-based tests up to three days before the exam date.
The paper-based version of health education exam 5550/0550 is offered four times throughout the year. Each exam date has a registration deadline of about a month prior to the test date. Extended and emergency deadlines are also available closer to the exam date for additional fees. You also have the option of registering by mail or phone. You'll receive your admission ticket in the mail after your application has been processed. The phone registration option requires an additional charge.
Praxis Health Education Scoring
Scores for the computer-based test can be accessed 2-3 weeks after the close of the testing window. If you need to order additional score reports, you'll need to pay a small fee.
The scores for the 5550/0550 and 5551 tests are scored on different scales, so the passing requirements for the health education tests will vary by state and by the version of the test you are taking. You'll earn a score of one point for each question that you answer correctly. The total raw score is then converted into a scaled score. Your final score report will show your raw and scaled scores and indicate whether or not you have passed the test.
