The TExES Mathematics 4-8 exam is administered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as part of the educator licensure process in the state of Texas. It is intended to assess readiness for providing elementary mathematics instruction for public school teachers.

TExES Mathematics 4-8 Exam Preparation & Registration
While taking this course, you will be presented with lessons designed specifically to refresh and/or expand your knowledge in elementary math and math instruction. Each lesson includes a video presentation by an instructor with experience in the field, a lesson transcript, and a post-lesson quiz. Additionally, each chapter in the course contains an exam to allow you to practice with the kinds of questions you will see on the real test and increase both your competence and speed in answering those types of questions. The chapters and their component lessons are presented in a graduated format, but you can skip to the topics where you know you need the most practice if you so desire. The chapters include topics in the areas of basic arithmetic and numbers, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, mathematical reasoning, providing instruction and assessments on mathematical principles, and more.
Registration is completed on the TExES website. There, you will also find testing eligibility information and several products with in-depth descriptions of course content and test-prep advice. All Mathematics 4-8 tests are administered by computer or on paper. The testing computers include a local calculator app, of which you can access a practice version on the TExES website, and you may bring your own scientific calculator so long as you are willing to allow administrators to delete the memory before and after the exam.
TExES Mathematics 4-8 Exam Scoring
Scoring is provided in a scaled system with possibilities from 100-300; 240 to pass. Your score is based on the total number of correct answers - incorrect answers will not be penalized. Your score will be available for download from the website where you registered, approximately a week following your test date. Your TEA certification file will automatically be updated with the score data. As part of the scoring process, you will receive a by-domain analysis of your performance.
