General John Gordon Macarthur
A retired general and a widower. Macarthur finds out his wife is sleeping around with another man, so he uses his military powers to send the man to his death in battle.
Mrs. Ethel Rogers
One of the staff that has been hired to come to Indian Island. Ethel is good at cooking and very timid. She caused the accidental death of her former employer and is killed in her sleep.
Mr. Thomas Rogers
Like his wife, Thomas was hired to work on Indian Island. Thomas was possibly partially guilty of the death of his former employer, but it is never confirmed directly in the story.
Anthony 'Tony' Marston
A tall and attractive man. Tony is wealthy and has little regard for other people. He is a bad driver and murdered two children by running over them in his car.
Isaac Morris
An underhanded man who made the arrangements for the murderer to get everyone to Indian Island. Isaac is also guilty of selling drugs to a young woman who later committed suicide.
Fred Narracott
A boatman who brings all ten of the guests to Indian Island. Fred is the one who returns to the island to find the bodies of the murder victims at the end of the story.
Sir Thomas Legge
One of the detectives from Scotland Yard who is trying to solve the murder case. Legge's name is important because it translates as 'law' in Italian, making him representative of the legal system.
Inspector Maine
Another police officer who is investigating the murders on Indian Island. He works for Sir Thomas Legge.
