In this assignment, students select a short story and explore how its author has developed various story elements (e.g., character, setting, plot, point of view) through exposition, climax, and resolution. Using their findings, students compose a brief analysis of the author's use of exposition, climax, and resolution in the story.

Assignment Instructions for Students

Choose a short story from this course, or another you have read recently. From the exposition, climax, and resolution of that story, annotate examples of how the writer has developed various story elements, such as character, setting, plot and point of view. Then write a short (400-500 word) essay analyzing the writer's use of those features in the story.
