Social studies can be made much more fun by playing learning games. With geography, history, civics, science, and sociology all wrapped into one, there are endless possibilities.

7th Grade Social Studies Games

Social Studies is a wide-ranging subject, yet it is often described as people's least favorite subject. There's no reason this should be the case considering the wide variety of topics that lend themselves to all kinds of fun games and activities. Here are a few ideas for games to make your class more fun and engaging.

Geography Find-It

Learning about the geography of the world requires knowledge of where things are located. Learning the positions of things on a map isn't always super exciting, so it's worthwhile to make it more fun with a game. In this game, students have to label locations on a map.

There are several versions of this game that you can play. The first involves giving every student an Atlas of the world, or just your particular part of it (the United States, Europe, etc.), and having students find a list of places: particular cities, countries, states, and points of interest. This can be done individually or in pairs. Students can label these places by sticking colored pieces of masking tape on part of the book and writing down what it represents. Students can also label the particular pages so they can show you their work. If desired, it can be made into a competition by having students race to complete the task.
