Out in Space

  • Where does All Summer in a Day take place? Be specific and name the exact location. Would you ever consider living there? Why or why not? What are some advantages and disadvantages?
  • What happens every day, all of the time? If this happened where you lived, how would this benefit nature? Could it be harmful? Explain.
  • Describe the children's demeanor out in space. Do you think the atmosphere makes them happy or sad? How would it make you feel?
  • What happens every seven years? Are the colonists excited? Why or why not? Is there something that happens infrequently where you live that you are excited about? Explain.

The Exciting Day

The Exciting Day section focuses on the main character, Margot, and how the children feel about her and what she knows about the sun. Your students will discuss a variety of topics in this section including bullying.
