Australia Lesson Plan for High School

Do you need a fun and simple way to teach your high school students about Australia? This lesson plan is designed to support your instruction using a short and informative text lesson. A creative research activity is included to engage students further.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • locate Australia on a world map
  • describe the geographical regions of Australia
  • list the key landmarks of Australia

Integrate quantitative or technical analysis (e.g., charts, research data) with qualitative analysis in print or digital text.

  • A world map
  • Full-color paper copies of the text lesson Overview of Australian Geography
  • Photocopies of the worksheet from the associated text lesson
  • Research resources related to Australia (e.g fact sheets, travel brochures, maps, economic reports, the internet, and so on)
