Bowling Lesson Plan

Instructor: Dana Dance-Schissel

Dana teaches social sciences at the college level and English and psychology at the high school level. She has master's degrees in applied, clinical and community psychology.

Do you need a simple way to teach students about bowling without leaving the classroom? This lesson plan introduces the rules and skills involved in bowling and a fun activity gives students a chance to practice bowling basics.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • explain the basics of bowling
  • list the equipment required for bowling
  • discuss essential safety measures in bowling
  • describe the scoring methods for bowling

  • A worksheet created using the quiz from the associated text lesson
  • Masking tape
  • Measuring tape
  • Textbooks
  • Ten two-liter soda bottles filled with sand
  • Playground balls
