Campaign Speech Lesson Plan

This lesson will help you teach your students how to write a campaign speech. An informational text lesson guides students through the steps of writing and giving a persuasive campaign speech, scaffolding them as they go through the writing process to completion.

Learning Objectives

After this lesson, students will be able to:

  • explain the parts of a campaign speech and why they are necessary
  • analyze campaign speeches
  • write and deliver a persuasive campaign speech

50 minutes for guided lesson plus independent writing

  • Videos of strong and weak campaign speeches for comparison
  • Checklist of writing goals for argumentative writing
