Carl Jung Lesson Plan

Chris has an M.A. in history and taught university and high school history.

In this lesson plan, we help our students learn more about Carl Jung and his theories with two lessons on this famous psychologist. During an activity, students will do some rough psychoanalysis on themselves and their fellow classmates.

Learning Objectives

After this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Explain who Carl Jung was and a bit about his life
  • Explain the basic psychological ideas of Carl Jung

  • Have students read the lesson Carl Jung: Biography & Quotes.
  • When all students have finished the lesson, hold a short discussion on the life of Carl Jung. Some example questions include:
    • How do you think Jung's life affected his psychological outlook?
    • If you had lived Jung's life, what would your take on psychology be?
    • What is the difference between introverted and extroverted? Which do you think you are?
  • Have students take the quiz from the associated text lesson.
  • Have students watch the video lesson Carl Jung's Theories: Personality, Psyche, & Dreams.
  • Stop the video at 2:46.
  • Hold a short discussion on Jung's personality theory. Some example discussion questions include:
    • Which of the four functions do you think is most useful?
    • Which do you think you use most in everyday life?
  • Finish the rest of the video.
  • Have students take the quiz from the associated video lesson.
