Chinese Puppets Lesson Plan

Instructor: Mary Beth Burns

Mary Beth has taught 1st, 4th and 5th grade and has a specialist degree in Educational Leadership. She is currently an assistant principal.

In this lesson plan, students will learn about Chinese puppets. After reading and discussing an informational text, students will design Chinese puppets and perform a puppet show.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze an informational text about the history and types of Chinese puppets
  • Write and perform an original Chinese puppet show script
  • Design an original Chinese puppet

  • Copies of Chinese Puppets: History and Types, one per student
  • Copies of the quiz, one per student
  • Sketchbook paper
  • Colored pencils
  • White butcher paper
  • Markers
  • Cardstock
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Glue
  • Scissors
