Chomsky's Theory of Language Lesson Plan

With this lesson plan, your students are going to learn about Noam Chomsky's theories on language. They will explore this by creating their own languages and debating language acquisition.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Identify Noam Chomsky and his influence on linguistics
  • Describe Chomsky's theories of universal grammar, innate language, and language acquisition
  • Critique Chomsky's theories and begin working towards a deeper understanding of language
