This lesson plan is a tool for helping students learn about Christopher Columbus & Native Americans. Students will be able to explain the positive and negative consequences of European colonization for the Native American population.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Answer questions about the purpose of Christopher Columbus' voyage
  • Summarize the negative impact that European colonization had on Native American tribes
  • Use content-specific language to describe how the exchange of tools and horses impacted Native Americans
