Teaching coding to middle schoolers can be a fun adventure for both you and your students! These activities will help you guide students through fun and easy-to-build projects that will get and keep their attention.

Coding Activities for Middle School

These coding activities will help you provide students with creative ways to apply their coding skills. With a plethora of resources available online, you are bound to find an overwhelming number of options for completing such projects.

The first activity allows students the opportunity to vet and evaluate available resources, choose the one they think is best for various purposes, and provide a rationale for their decision. The other two activities provide you with options for applying their coding knowledge using one or more of the resources. You can, of course, provide a single resource for students to use or you can use the results of ''Tried and True'' to allow students to forge their own path in activity completion. These activities can be used with student partners or individuals. The only materials you will need are a list of coding guide and troubleshooting resources to support students as they build their creations.
