Cold War Containment Lesson Plan

If you are discussing the Soviet Union, communism and the opponents, this lesson plan provides many activities to reinforce students' comprehension. Students will participate in a reading assignment, watch a video and complete a timeline. Two quizzes are also available.

Learning Objectives

After this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Define the idea of containment and its purpose
  • Describe the opponent and proponent rationales
  • Identify major policies that impacted containment
