-ER Verb Conjugations

¡Hola! In this video, we are going to discuss regular -er verbs. This is a set of verbs all ending in the letters 'er' that follow the same pattern for conjugation. Once you learn the endings that go with each subject pronoun, you can easily conjugate any -er verb! ¡Vamos!

-ER Verb Endings

Because these are regular verbs, you need to only memorize the endings. Then, you can easily attach them to the root of any regular -er verb. Here, we will see each ending.

Yo -o Nosotros -emos
Él/Ella/Ud. -e Ellos/Ellas/Uds. -en

The Yo, or 'I,' ending is -o.

The , or 'you singular,' ending is -es.

The Él, Ella, and Usted ending - that is, the 'he,' 'she,' and 'you formal' ending - is -e.

The Nosotros, or 'we,' ending is -emos.

Finally, the Ellos, Ellas, Ustedes ending is -en. This is the form that talks about 'them' or 'you all.'

Let's take one more look at each ending for regular -er verbs.

Yo: -o

Tú: -es

Él/Ella/Ud.: -e

Nosotros: -emos

And Ellos/Ellas/Uds.: -en

Practicing with Regular -ER Verbs

Let's now see these endings attached to a regular -er verb. It's very simple to form these conjugations. Here's how it works.

Take a regular -er verb - comer, for example. You first drop the -er ending, leaving you with the stem. In this case, the stem is 'com.' Then, you simply attach the appropriate ending.
