Continents Lesson Plan

What do your students know about the continents of the world in terms of geography, culture and religion? This lesson plan uses an informative video lesson to outline key facts about each of Earth's continents. A fun trivia game will allow students to demonstrate mastery.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • explain how Earth's seven continents evolved from Pangaea
  • list and describe key geographical features of the seven continents of Earth
  • discuss cultural and political nuances of each continent
  • summarize the major countries that make up each continent

Analyze the relationship between a primary and secondary source on the same topic.

Materials

  • A world globe
  • A worksheet created using the quiz from the associated video lesson, one for each student
  • A photocopied transcript of the video lesson
