This lesson will show you how to calculate the number of seconds in one year. Each step of the calculation converts one year to a smaller unit until the solution is in seconds.

Steps in Conversion

How many seconds are there in one year? To convert one year to seconds, there are four steps, each one converting one year into a smaller unit until the solution is in seconds. These steps are as follows:

  1. Convert one year to days.
  2. Convert days to hours.
  3. Convert hours to minutes.
  4. Convert minutes to seconds.

The following equivalent units will be used in the calculation:

1 year = 365 days
1 day = 24 hours
1 hour = 60 minutes
1 minute = 60 seconds
