In 1962, the world watched as President Kennedy announced that the United States had discovered missiles owned by the Soviet Union in Cuba. The United States responded with a naval blockade of the island. Thankfully, the crisis ended through peaceful negotiations between President Kennedy and Soviet Premier Khrushchev.
