ESL Beauty Discussion Questions

Instructor: Sarah Mills

Sarah is an educational freelance writer and has taught English and ESL in grades k-12 and college. She has a master's degree in both Literacy and TESOL.

In this lesson, teachers will learn about using discussion questions about beauty with English as a Second Language (ESL) students to help develop oral language and social skills. A list of sample discussion questions about beauty will be included.

Discussing Beauty

People will go to great lengths to achieve a certain standard of beauty depending on the values of their society. For example, people have ingested unusual concoctions in an effort to achieve glowing skin, while plastic surgery is a common solution for those who wish to maintain a youthful appearance. Hair dye, Botox, gym memberships, and makeup are all solutions that many people seek in order to alter their appearance.

Here is a list of discussion questions that you can use in your classroom to offer ESL students a chance to share their perspectives and explore their own attitudes and beliefs about beauty.
