In this lesson, we will explore some easy and fun activities to teach ESL students how to speak about daily routines. Using some of these games will greatly benefit your ESL students in the classroom.

Learning Daily Routines

Teaching English as a second language (ESL) students how to talk about our daily routines can be fun and enjoyable for all students. Using these games and activities will help your students start speaking about activities that they do on a daily basis. Some examples of these daily routines are:

  • Brushing your teeth
  • Eating meals
  • Going to school
  • Getting ready for bed

Matching Fun

Provide your student with some picture cards of photos of daily activities. Spread them out in front of the student and say a phrase that matches one of the pictures, such as, ''Brush your teeth.'' Then the student can repeat the phrase and choose the picture card that matches the phrase you read aloud. Play continues until all picture cards are matched with the proper phrases.
