As English as a Second Language (ESL) students proceed on their educational journey, they will come across a variety of education vocabulary. This lesson provides teachers with several education-related vocabulary lists and ideas on how to use them.

Education Vocabulary

In addition to learning how to talk about their lives, ESL students also need to be able to talk about their school and education. The following word lists have been divided by level.

Find the Definition

Instead of simply giving students the definitions for the listed terms, give them some time to look up and find the correct definitions themselves. Some of the words, such as term and program, have multiple meanings, so this exercise is a great way to help students figure out the correct definition depending on the context.
