Flags of the World Activities

Instructor: Clio Stearns

Clio has taught education courses at the college level and has a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction.

Are you trying to help your students understand more about different countries around the world? This lesson offers several activities using a variety of learning styles to teach students the flags of the world.

Learning World Flags

Learning the different flags of the world can be a great way to give students insight into global geography. Knowing the different flags also helps students identify countries around the globe when they are in the news, on public buildings, or in other prominent places. Yet sitting down to memorize the world's many flags on a rote basis can be a lot to ask of students.

One way you can make it more fun to learn about the flags of the world is to incorporate activities into your instruction. Teaching with activities gives you a chance to appeal to diverse learning styles and strengths, captivating students' interests as well as their memories. The activities in this lesson will teach your students about the flags of the world.

Tactile and Kinesthetic Activities

The activities in this section focus on letting students use their hands and bodies to do the learning. Many students will assimilate new ideas and information better if they are allowed to work with their fine and gross motor skills. They will also have fun doing so!
