Freak the Mighty Chapter 15 Summary

Instructor: Kerry Gray

Kerry has been a teacher and an administrator for more than twenty years. She has a Master of Education degree.

It is Christmas Eve at Max's house. After a festive dinner, Max has trouble sleeping. It is no wonder when he finds out 'What Came Down the Chimney' in Chapter 15 of ''Freak the Mighty''.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is better than Max could possibly have imagined it would be. Great food, special gifts, and being surrounded by the people he loves the most. What could possibly go wrong?

Kevin and Max spend Christmas Eve together with their families.

Christmas Dinner

Gwen and Kevin enjoy an extraordinary Christmas Eve with Max and his family. Everyone dresses in their fanciest clothes and Gram outdoes herself with an amazing dinner! Everyone eats until they are stuffed like a turkey, but Gwen keeps a watchful eye so that Freak does not eat too fast. After dinner, Grim tells funny, exaggerated stories about Christmas when he was a kid, and then everyone opens a present.

Best Present Ever

Max gives Kevin a super useful, all-in-one tool that Kevin can use to invent things. Kevin has made Max an incredible, pyramid-shaped box that unfolds to reveal a small platform at the press of a button. On the platform is a hand-made dictionary of Kevin's favorite words. Max thinks this is the best present ever as he reads 'ABSCISSA, the horizontal truth.' (Abscissa is the x-coordinate of a point in a plane used in mathematics.) Max does not want this night to end.
