George the Knight

A very long time ago, there was a knight named George. A knight was a brave soldier who wore armor (a metal outfit that protects the body), carried weapons, and rode on a horse. George traveled to many places and went on many adventures. George was very brave. On one of his travels, George came across a small town that had a big problem, and he knew he had to help.

The Dragon

George came to a town where there was a mean dragon that lived in a lake. The dragon attacked the town and spread disease to the people. To try to get the dragon to stop, the people tried feeding the dragon sheep. However, the dragon did not stop, and soon they ran out of sheep! The next thing they did was to feed the dragon young women that lived in the town. A young woman would be picked by lottery, or chance, and given to the dragon. One day, the king's daughter, the princess, was chosen to be fed to the dragon.

The king did not know what to do. He did not want to let his daughter get eaten by the dragon, so he tried giving the townspeople his money, jewels, and land in exchange for her life. The townspeople did not agree, so the king sadly sent his daughter to the lake for the dragon to eat.

George to the Rescue

George was traveling through the town, and when he came to the lake he saw the princess there. He noticed that the princess was very scared and sad, and he wanted to help her. Just then, the dragon came out of the water and tried to eat the princess! George, being very brave, stabbed the dragon and hurt him very badly. George asked the princess for her belt then tied it around the dragon's neck like a leash, and they led the dragon into town.
