Instructor: Kim-Kathie Knudsen

Kim-Kathie has taught high school and college Spanish and has worked as a professional development specialist and instructional technology administrator. She has a master's degree in Teaching and Curriculum and is currently working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Google Earth uses 3D technology to allow students to virtually fly all over the world without leaving their seats. This lesson teaches students how to use and navigate Google Earth with two navigation activities using famous landmarks.

Learning Objectives

After this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Use interactive technology to locate a landmark
  • Use computer keys to navigate the screen
  • Persuasively argue why their landmark is important to visit

This lesson will take 45-60 minutes, depending on age of the learner.

Curriculum Standards

Conduct short research projects that build knowledge about a topic.

Recall information from experiences or gather information from print and digital sources; take brief notes on sources and sort evidence into provided categories.
