Gothic Art Lesson Plan

Dana teaches social sciences at the college level and English and psychology at the high school level. She has master's degrees in applied, clinical and community psychology.

What are the hallmarks of Gothic art and architecture? This lesson plan uses two fact-filled video lessons to explain the history and key elements of the Gothic style. An activity allows students to demonstrate what they've learned with a takeaway.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • define 'Gothic' in terms of art and architecture
  • summarize the history of the Gothic style
  • list key elements of Gothic art and architecture

  • A worksheet created using the influences quiz and the social influences quiz from the associated video lessons
  • Modeling clay
