Grasshoppers go through a life cycle like other animals. Your students will enjoy learning the life cycle of a grasshopper as they watch a video, create flip books, and take a short quiz.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • define metamorphosis
  • identify and describe the life cycle of the grasshopper

1.5 - 2 hours

Curriculum Standards

3-LS1-1. Develop models to describe that organisms have unique and diverse life cycles but all have in common birth, growth, reproduction, and death.

Materials

  • Copies of the lesson quiz
  • Computer with projector
  • Printer paper
  • Colored pencils
  • Pieces of yarn or silver rings for making flip books
