Homophone Games & Activities

Instructor: Sharon Linde
Teaching your students about homophones? Playing fun games is a great way to reinforce concepts and keep kids engaged. This lesson includes clear directions and ready-to-use activities requiring supplies you already have on hand.

Teaching Homophones

Homophones is a fun concept to teach. They're words that sound the same but have different meanings, and may be spelled differently as well. Students likely already know about these words; they know there is a bat they play baseball with and one that flies in the sky at night. The confusion comes in when homophones are taught alongside of homonyms or homographs. Teach your students to remember 'homophone' by associating the concept of 'sound' and 'phone,' as you use the phone to hear and listen.
