The Leadership Agility Compass is a business tool to help you, from the implementation of an initiative to follow-up. In this activity, you'll find the compass and a checklist for working through the four quadrants.

The Leadership Agility Compass

Agile leadership is all about a managers' or leaders' ability to make smart, and effective decisions, that lead to action in the midst of complicated and shifting business conditions. To help leaders become agile, the Leadership Agility Compass was developed by a company called ChangeWise. Use this compass for a visual representation of the interconnected areas where attention is necessary when introducing change, new business initiatives, or increasing effective communication with employees. The Leadership Agility Compass is a useful tool regardless of the business scenario.

This is what the Leadership Agility Compass looks like:

The four quadrants of the Leadership Agility Compass gives business leaders a representation of areas to consider in becoming agile.

Leadership Agility Compass Checklist

To effectively use the compass, first remember that each quadrant is important in whatever business scenario you are dealing with. Now, consider these steps below as you work through each quadrant of the compass. Write down what steps you need to consider as you work your way through each point of the compass.

1. Start with Context-Setting Agility. Consider the context of the business situation you are facing.

  • Next, move on to Scoping Initiatives. Think about the steps you need to take to implement your initiative.
  • Now that you have your initiatives outlined, it is time to start thinking about Setting Direction. This will give you a roadmap for your initiatives.

2. The next thing you will need to look at is Stakeholder Agility.
