Utilizing the internet for small businesses is an effective tool. In this lesson, we will discuss how internet marketing helps small businesses by using social media, mailing lists, websites, and search engine optimization.

Marketing for Small Businesses

Internet marketing for small businesses is essential to help gain brand awareness, increase profit, and communicate with customers. Small businesses are often on a budget constraint, but there are some tactics that will not cost the company money. Other forms of marketing, such as search engine optimization and website development, may cost the company money but can help them see a significant profit.

Social Media for Businesses

Social media is a website or app that allows people to communicate. Social media is an inexpensive way for small businesses to communicate their messages with customers and potential customers. Some of the most popular avenues of social media for businesses are Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It's helpful for companies to have a social media presence to communicate with customers if they have a problem or want to know more information about events or sales. Social media allows small businesses to form a closer relationship with their customers and helps create brand loyalty.

Facebook allows small businesses to create events with all the information. It invites customers to these events to help them remember it. Small businesses should create their page so people can like it, leave reviews, leave comments, or even private message the company. It's essential for businesses to maintain their Facebook page and answer customers in a timely fashion.

Robert owns a small restaurant and has decided to utilize social media to help promote his business and communicate with his customers. Robert notices he has received a bad review on social media and does not know how to handle the situation. He notices that everyone who views the page can see the reviews. To manage the issue appropriately, Robert should respond and tell the customer he's sorry for the bad review but will be happy to send a private message to remedy the situation. This allows Robert to help the customer and receive more information without it being published for everyone to see the discussion.

Mailing Lists

Mailing Lists are a way for businesses to send out promotional material and upcoming events to a broad audience. Small businesses can have a sign-up sheet or ask for customers' email for a mailing list to send them coupons and future information. MailChimp is a free mailing list website that allows businesses to add all of their contacts and send out information to customers. It also allows you to create templates that are attractive to customers.
