2. Many links together offer protection and strength.

Link-building strategies can help build and enhance your content.
Link-building strategies can help build and enhance your content.

The same is true of digital link-building for your online content. If you can build high-quality links between your website and others, you strengthen your content, improve your search engine ranking and earn a broader audience. Let's examine link-building and some strategies for success.

What is Link-Building?

Link building is the process of acquiring hyperlinks from other websites to your own, according to the website, Moz. A hyperlink, typically referred to as simply a 'link,' is a way for users to navigate through web pages on the internet. In order to arrive at this page, you visited the link: www. study.com. Millions of similar links appear all over the World Wide Web for everything from news sites to e-commerce stores.

Link building is important for a couple of reasons:

  • First, it helps foster relationships between you and your target audience, between you and bloggers, between you and other sources of information on the internet.
  • Second, your traffic increases. If you've built a relationship with a highly-respected blogger who links to your site, you stand the potential of earning additional web traffic thanks to that referral.
  • Third, you build brand awareness. Let's say you publish a content piece on the best ways to brew coffee. Your article is shared dozens or hundreds of times and seen by thousands of people. Suddenly, you are being viewed as a coffee-brewing expert, a leader in your particular field.
  • Lastly, you enhance your search engine optimization or SEO, meaning you appear higher in search engine rankings. When reputable websites link back to your own, it builds the credibility of your site and boosts your position on search engine results pages.

So, now that you know why it's important, how exactly do you do it? Read on.
