Lunch Bunch Activities for Middle School

Instructor: Grace Pisano

Grace has taught high school history in several states with a master's degree in teaching.

Many schools around the country utilize lunch bunch, which is when a small group of students meet with an adult in the school on a regular basis. This resource contains group lunch bunch activities for middle school students.

Why Lunch Bunch Activities?

Lunch bunch is an excellent way for a teacher (or other school staff member) to develop meaningful relationships with students. During middle school, when students go through seemingly continuous change, these groups can be a safe place for students to grow, ask questions and feel supported while at school. Typically, a lunch bunch group meets weekly for about 20 - 30 minutes (the length of lunch at school). During lunch bunch meetings, it is essential to maximize the time you have with students, so encourage them to bring a lunch from home on the day you meet. Below are some activities you can use to start conversations, name goals and have fun together.
