Wolfgang Mozart

Do you ever wonder about who creates and writes all the music we hear? We know there are musical artists who sing songs, but there are other people behind the scenes, some of who are composers, or the people who write music. One famous composer, who lived centuries ago, is Wolfgang Mozart. He began loving music and became interested in instruments at the young age of three years old. Throughout his life, he showed off his musical talent by composing many famous pieces of music.

Wolfgang Mozart

Young Mozart

In 1756, Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria. His father was a very successful musician, so Mozart heard and was around music since the day he was born. At the age of three, Mozart began playing instruments, specifically the piano and keyboard. When he was five, Mozart composed his very first song. As you can imagine, Mozart's father knew he was going to be a great musician and wanted to world to know about his son's talents.

In 1762, with the help and guidance of his father, Mozart began touring around Europe. While touring, he met many musicians who were impressed with his young talent. While this was a great experience, Mozart's father wanted to take him other places. Therefore, when Mozart was 13, he traveled to Italy in order to meet other musicians and play music.

In 1773, Mozart was recognized and appointed as the assistant concertmaster by the new archbishop. In this position, he worked with many different people and in many different genres, or categories of music. Nevertheless, he became bored with his job and wanted to do something new. He wanted to travel again and continue to meet people through his music, so he did just that. However, his trip was cut short when his mother passed away in 1778 and he returned home. Eventually, he moved again and decided to settle in Vienna, Italy as a freelance performer, composer, and teacher.
